LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain is a low VOC, environmentally friendly stain that includes vivid reds, yellows, blues, pastel pinks and beiges and even grays. The waterborne stain penetrates and bonds with porous concrete or cementitious toppings for permanent, nonfading, predictable colors. When finished with the compatible sealer, it is durable enough for interior floors, walls, columns and other decorative features.
Tintura is formulated specifically to stain concrete or cementitious toppings. Unlike coatings or paints which often delaminate when used on concrete, Tintura chemically bonds with cured concrete that is uncolored, color hardened, or integrally colored. It is also compatible for use with SCOFIELD® Texturetop® cementitious toppings. The Tintura System includes companion sealers that are required for long-term durability and long-lasting colors.
Either a translucent or an opaque appearance can be achieved with this proprietary system. Up to three coats may be applied to increase color intensity. LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain can be color-matched to the full range of Scofield colors, and custom colors can be produced. The final installed appearance will be unique depending on the color consistency, condition and porosity of the substrate and the cement and aggregates used.
Sustainability
LITHOCHROME Tintura may contribute to earning LEED credits for Indoor Environmental Quality, 4.2 Low Emitting Materials, Paints & Coatings based on low contribution of VOC. Tintura's recommended sealer, SCOFIELD® Selectseal-W™ is a highly durable, one-component, clear, acrylic-polyurethane sealer for use to improve resistance to staining, abrasion and the effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Selectseal-W is also a green building material which could contribute to earning LEED credits.
Warning
LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain must never be mixed with LITHOCHROME Chemstain Classic or any other acidic chemical stain. Doing so will produce a dangerous chemical reaction. LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain base material must only be mixed with LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain tint cups.
Packing
LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain base material is available from stock in 1-gallon {3.8 L} pails. Tint cups are sold separately.
Coverage
LITHOCROME Tintura Stain must be applied without thinning. The coverage will vary depending on the method of application, the porosity and texture of the surface, and the appearance desired.
One, two, or three coats may be required to produce the desired color effect and intensity on colored or uncolored concrete and cementatious toppings. The recommended coverage rate is 1000-1200 square feet per gallon (25-30 m²/L) per coat.
