Flexible, precured dry intumescent strips are installed as an integral part of fire door assemblies to provide a positive pressure seal in the clearance area between the door and frame, at the assembly threshold, through hardware such as closers and locks, or in frame assemblies utilizing fire-rated glass in both doors and side lites. The intumescent expands upon exposure to heat, forming a refractory char that tightly seals, preventing the spread of flame, smoke, and toxic fumes. Easy to install and ready to use, the virtually air-tight butterfly damper rubber gasket delivers a superior seal when closed. These strips are cost-effective, requiring less material, and are highly versatile and flexible. Tested in accordance with ASTM E1966 (UL 2079), DIN 4102-1, the fire door standards UL 10C and NFPA 252, and complying with the requirements of IBC 716.2, VOC compliant (CDPH Standard Method v1.2), these strips meet the required environmental exposure testing of accelerated aging and high humidity as per UL 1479 Fire Test of Through-Penetration Firestops and are compliant with the Buy America Act.
